SUMMARY:

• The Para-educator position will support students individually or in small groups in one of the following areas: Autistic, Emotional, Instructional, Learning, and Life Skills

• Para-educators work on student days following T/ESD school calendar year

• Typical scheduled hours for Elementary: 8:30-4:00p / Middle School: 8:15AM - 3:15PM / High School: 7:30-3:00

  • Position schedule may vary depending upon assignment

PARA-EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the direction of the special education teacher, implement IEP's, behavior plans, and progress monitoring systems

• Provider assistance to students in regular & special education classrooms in completing tasks assigned by teachers

• Assist the teacher in observing, recording and charting behavior

• Supervise children in the hallway, lunchroom and playground

• Assist the teacher in observing, recording and charting behavior

• Observe behavior and carries out behavior management activities

QUALIFICATION:

• Two-years of post-secondary education (48 credits) or an Associates degree

CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS:

(Clearances and TB current within 12 months)

• PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance

• PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance

• PA Department of Education FBI – Use code 1KG6XN

• TB Screening

• Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcripts
