Murphy Bros. is seeking an experienced manager to lead the Paint and Finishes division. Poised to grow and develop, this team needs a leader who understands the critical nature of systems, timing, and process. This person understands the paint and fine finishes world in detail. They should be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the careful balance between craftsmanship and staying on schedule. Above all, they must lead and develop a team of field and shop preppers, finishers, and field painters capable of meeting the high standards of our design/build clientele, other trade partners, and the retain public. Typical Hours: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm M - F Exempt


Reason position exists
:

  • To provide overall leadership to the paint and finishes department.
  • To drive growth and profitability of paint department
  • To provide excellent client experience to all Murphy Bros paint customers
  • To manage and oversee all Murphy Bros. paint and finishing projects by organizing, delegating, and following up as needed on projects in order to manage and control outcomes
  • To keep projects on schedule and profitable while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • To provide input on projects in design and development in order to ensure predictable outcomes.
  • To manage the entire paint department on a daily basis, ensuring workload is distributed, duties are assigned, and project information is laid out.

Primary Job Responsibilities:


Leadership, Management, and Holding Accountabilities

  • Be involved with hiring and firing as needed
  • Have consistent quarterly conversations with your team
  • Ensure staff has appropriate training and development so they can achieve their goals and uphold their own responsibilities

Sales and Margin

  • Achieve overall sales goals
  • Achieve budgeted margin rate
  • Follow promptly on new sales opportunities
  • Project Estimating
  • Follow prescribed sales process

Jobsite Setup

  • Procure materials
  • Equipment sourcing and coordination
  • Communicate with the homeowner and/or project manager
  • Planning and scheduling oversight

Quality Control

  • Ensure workmanship meets quality standards
  • Perform regular worksite quality inspections
  • Provide positive reinforcement and constructive feedback when standards are not met
  • Fix mistakes quickly

Customer Satisfaction

  • Communication needs to be both timely and professional
  • Be a good problem solver
  • Listen to and address customer concerns
  • Deal with issues promptly

Job Skills and Abilities

  • Education
    • Required - High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Desirable - certifications from trade organizations such as NABH, NARI, etc.
    • Desirable - formal education in project management.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Excellent people and communication skills
  • Understand the entire project scope and be able to answer questions from field staff, the office, Trade Contractors, vendors and homeowner’s on assigned projects
  • Ensure that duties are prepared, communicated, and completed correctly
  • Valid driver’s license
