Description:
The SRM Automatic Packaging Operator will operate and assist Automatic Packaging Machine for continuous operation in accordance with mill policies and procedures. The employee will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Working Conditions:
Working conditions are the same as the conditions provided in the pipe manufacturing industry. Working environment temperature is in parallel with weather conditions. It requires working in dusty, noisy, and greasy environments. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds, and standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

1. Qualifications:
1.1. A High School diploma or GED equivalent.

1.2. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

1.3. Experience with operating automated equipment preferred.

1.4. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools, and hand-held measurement devices.

1.5. Knowledge of pipe manufacturing processes and packaging procedures for at least 1 year is a plus.

1.6. Open to multi-tasking and cross training.

1.7. Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time and weekends when necessary.

2. Responsibilities:
2.1. Responsible for Automatic Packaging and Strapping machine set up during size changeovers.

2.2. Ensure the type of bundle conforms to the work order.

2.3. Read work orders and quality requirements to set up specifications and information.

2.4. Perform a visual inspection before the beginning of the shift and report any issues to the Supervisor and Engineer.

2.5. Clean and service strapping machine during downtime.

2.6. Track and prepare strapping consumables.

2.7. Track and keep the consumption of strapping to a minimum.

2.8. Ensure suitable pipe surface quality.

2.9. Communicating and working together with the other workstation operators

2.10. Communicate with crew and other departments to achieve a quality product.

2.11.Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.

2.12. Employee must follow the 5S implementation procedure.

2.13. Must communicate to Supervisor and Engineer any problems with material and equipment.

3. Activities:
3.1. Checking/reviewing work orders.

3.2. Checking types of bundles and confirming they are suitable regarding the work order.

3.3. Labeling of bundles.

3.4. Preparing and feeding consumables.

3.5. Employee must report to his immediate Supervisor and Engineer for briefing on daily tasks.

3.6. Provide and assist with maintenance on the equipment he/she is operating.

3.7. This position may require operating a Forklift and Overhead Crane.

3.8. Keep the working environment clean and tidy.

3.9. Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up and also during shift.

3.10.Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.

3.11.Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.

3.12.Assist in changeovers and maintenance.

3.13. Other duties as assigned.

4. Authority and Obligation:
4.1. This position has the authority to stop all SRM pipe line operation at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety, quality, or priority.
