Job Summary:

As a Crane Operator Metal-Matic, you will work in conjunction with the material handler to keep all equipment supplied with stock so as to keep machine downtime to a minimum. You will be responsible for ensuring the product meets customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates the overhead cranes with utmost concern for the safety of others. Does not move loads over workers, but uses warning horn whenever necessary, giving workers below, time to move safely out of the way.
  • The crane operator must be familiar with the equipment so that it is never operated until he is certain that he is operating in a safe manner.
  • The operator checks the cable visually, daily, with the sheave block lowered to the floor. If any broken strands of cable are noticed, he is to inform the shift supervisor immediately.
  • The operator checks the safety limit switch and all brakes at the start of each shift.
  • The operator checks wheels, bearings, and other functional crane parts visually as necessary to be assured of operating safely.
  • The operator is primarily responsible for operating the equipment within the assigned load rating.
  • Deliver stock to the workstations without damage to the stock or to the equipment. He is to work in conjunction with the material handling assistant to a keep all equipment supplied with stock so as to keep machine downtime to a minimum. He is to move finished stock away from equipment into stock areas or onto the rail cars.
  • Conscientiously work toward running a safer and cleaner operation.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Education: High School or equivalent

  • Other Skills and Abilities: Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and/ or walk, and/ or use arms and hands to load and unload material for extended period of time. Must be able to safely lift and load 50lbs. The employee must also be able to work outside in a variety of conditions. Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate, must be flexible with shift and hours.

We also offer a retention bonus of $1500 after one year of employment paid in three installments - $250 at 90 days, $250 at six months and $1000 at the one year anniversary.
