Responsibilities

Under supervision of the Senior Pharmacy Supervisor, the outpatient pharmacist/ Specialty Pharmacist helps the pharmacy supervisor lead the team as well as performs a range of functions that include the preparation and dispensing of drugs in the outpatient and specialty pharmacy setting such as maintenance and review of patient medication profiles; medication reconciliation upon discharge, counseling patients on appropriate drug use; reviewing medication orders and patients medical record, Meds to Beds medication delivery and counseling, as well as interacting with other health professionals to help prevent inappropriate or misuse of medications. Job duties also include performing specialty pharmacy clinical interventions, promoting adherence, assisting with prior authorization, SAR, TAR processes as well as helping patients with financial assistance and medication reconciliation.

Schedule: Variable shifts including weekends and holidays

Salary range: $80.94-$94.81 Hourly

Qualifications

Pharm. D degree, required
Valid California Pharmacist license, required
Specialty pharmacy experience, highly desired
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and professional staff.
Ability to set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
Ability to work independently and follow-through on assignments with minimal supervision.
Ability to effectively communicate orally on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and to persuade others to adopt a specific opinion or action.
Knowledge of and ability to perform age specific and disease specific pharmacokinetic calculations.
Knowledge of Specialty drugs, disease states and prior authorization processes.
Ability to evaluate and resolve staffing needs.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations relating to the practice of pharmacy.
Ability to review and assess the appropriateness of prescriptions with respect to age specific, disease state specific considerations.
Ability to lead the team and manage the workload efficiently
Current experience in an outpatient pharmacy setting, required
Ability to perform all tasks in an outpatient and specialty pharmacy setting including provider and patient outreach and follow ups.
Ability to help the Pharmacy Supervisor lead the team, set expectations
Ability to engage with the patients, promote adherence and treat them with empathy and compassion.
