Description

The Order Management Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday

Remote position although a Manatory 4-6 weeks of in person training Monday-Friday in Grayslake, IL

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews all orders received for completeness
  • Serves as a resource for Registration staff and Clinical Departments for order completeness
  • Serves as a resource for the Scheduling staff in the areas of interpreting orders
  • Reviews order against medical necessity software to ensure payer criteria are met
  • Works directly with physician offices to obtain/clarify non-clinical information
  • Processes orders by transcribing through the appropriate pathways in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Ensures departmental compliance with regulations, statutes and other applicable laws regarding operation and record retention
  • Maintains and keeps up-to-date on the OMU work queue, communicating any changes in orders received to Scheduling and/or clinical area
  • Maintains patient satisfaction scores consistent with the organizational goal
  • Reviews data repository and purges orders per established protocol
  • Ensures that current orders are attached at the account level in EMR when account number is available or test is scheduled
  • Assists in the indexing/merging/processing of new orders
  • Assists in the review/change of the scheduling questions to ensure that resource information, scheduling information are appropriate
  • Proficient in coding software to ensure proper CPT and ICD-10 codes are used to run medical necessity checks
  • Collects data relevant to incomplete orders requiring follow up and submits monthly, or as requested to manager
  • Issues Advanced Beneficiary Notice of Non-coverage (ABN) when OMU RN is not available
  • Maintains hospital-wide behavioral expectations of Excellence, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork and Innovation

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions, read and write in English
  • 1 to 3 years of related work experience

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of coding
