Cascade Eye & Skin Centers, P.C. is seeking for several Ophthalmology Assistants to join our team! We offer excellent benefits and Monday thru Friday working hours. Ophthalmic Assistant Job Duties:

  • Verify patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit and capturing all Meaningful Use measures in the patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and PQRS.
  • Prepares patients for examination by performing all pre-ordered testing as well as routine testing followed by rooming the patient.
  • Monitor patient flow by directing providers to the next patient; overseeing the providers schedule to maintain “on-time” status; check reception area to ensure all patients are accounted for.
  • Perform scribing tasks as directed by provider; prepare prescriptions indicated during the exam for provider’s signature at conclusion of exam.
  • Confirm patients understanding of the provider’s instructions at completion of the exam.
  • Manage patient phone calls within your scope of practice and forward messages as needed to providers.
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Keeps supplies ready in exam rooms by inventorying and restocking.
  • Assist with all surgical procedures; prepare consent forms for signature, organize instruments and/or supplies, clean, dry, sterilize/autoclave instruments.
  • Oversee refills of patient medications; call patients with instructions from provider as directed.
  • Copy, scan and file all pertinent patient information.
  • Promote and instruct in the use of the patient web portal.
  • Maintain responsibility for compliance with blood borne pathogen regulations; assistance with the clinic policy and procedures; maintenance of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all supplies and medications.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; calling for repairs.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
  • Serves and protects the ophthalmology practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements including all aspects of HIPAA regulations.
  • Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Other duties and tasks may/will be assigned as needed from multiple sources.

Job Summary:

Provide office and clinical support for the delivery of optical and ophthalmic patient care.

Ophthalmic Assistant Skills and Qualifications:

Supply Management, Verbal Communication, Infection Control, Creating a Safe and Effective Environment, Organization, Scheduling, Professionalism, Customer Focus, Confidentiality, Bedside Manner, Medical Teamwork

Education:

Proof of completion of a Certified Ophthalmic Technician program preferred but not required.

Licensing;

Employee must be eligible for registration with the Washing State Department of Health
