JOB SUMMARY & PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

REPORTS TO: Manager - Supply Chain

DEPARTMENT NAME: Central Supply

JOB SUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Transfers items from warehousing to schools, school and district facilities, as well as other sites. Loads and unloads items from the vehicle. Works under general supervision according to some procedures; decides how and when to complete tasks.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS -

Job Responsibility 1: Stages, loads and unloads, and delivers warehouse items (including, but not limited to surplus furniture and equipment, office and classroom furniture, textbooks, technology, food service equipment, musical instruments, science kits) and any other items.

Job Responsibility 2: Works with teams of temporary staff at various times throughout the year as it relates to textbook processing, technology processing, school moves, and other district relocation assignments.

Job Responsibility 3: Operates vehicles to transport items.
Job Responsibility 4: Assists with the coordination, palletizing and delivery of any items sold through Metro Government (E-Bid).
Job Responsibility 5: Assists in reconciling discrepancies in asset records (physical counts versus reported items, physical location of items, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a computerized inventory of all assets as required by state, federal, and administrative regulations.

Job Responsibility 6: Uses inventory software, creates delivery tickets and pulls items from stock for staging and delivery (textbooks, technology, and other warehouse items, as necessary).

Job Responsibility 7: Receives signature as proof of delivery from schools and other locations.
Receives signatures as proof of pick-up from schools and other locations for any inventory that is removed. Turn in paperwork to ensure asset locations are kept up-to-date.

Job Responsibility 8: Maintains open communications and develops solid working relationships within the organization.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES, REQUIREMENTS, AND IMPACTS

ASSETS RESPONSIBILITY:

Requires responsibility and opportunity for achieving moderate economies and/or preventing moderate losses through the management or handling of supplies of high value or moderate amounts of money.

COMMUNICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: “ Communications” involves the ability to read, write, and speak.

Reads routine sentences or instructions; writes routine sentences and completes routine work forms; speaks routine sentences using standard grammar.

EQUIPMENT USAGE: Handles machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items, such a delivery vehicles and hand tools.

SAFETY OF OTHERS: Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Requires high school diploma, GED, or vocational training.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Requires valid Tennessee Driver’s License.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: “ Experience Requirements” refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position.

Prior warehouse experience pulling stock, staging, loading and unloading trucks; and/or experience working with teams and temporary staff is preferred.

More specific degree, certification, and experience requirements will be included in the position announcement as vacancies occur.

Standing and walking: generally 6 hours per day (moderate)
Lifting and carrying: frequently lifting 70 lbs and occasionally lifting 100 lbs
Push and pull: unlimited grasp and fingering
Dexterity: ability to operate machines, tools or office equipment

Additional requirements: unlimited reaching to shoulder height; frequently climbs stairs; exposure to heat extremes.

UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS: “ Unavoidable Hazards” refers to unusual conditions in the work environment that may cause illness or injury.

The position is exposed to extreme heat/cold, wet or humid conditions, bright/dim lights, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors, moving mechanical parts, disease/pathogens, and traffic.

SENSORY (ADA) REQUIREMENTS: “ Sensory Requirements” refers to hearing, sight, touch, taste, and smell necessary to perform the tasks required by the position efficiently.

The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, and depth perception.
