Position Title: Operator Trainee

Work Schedule (2nd Shift): 1:30pm-10:00pm, Monday - Friday (The Gund Company offers a second shift premium of an additional 15% to base salary or hourly rate)

Pay Range: $17.00 - $18.00

Work Location: Ontario, CA

Job Summary

Implement the Production Fulfillment Process steps related to the fabrication of parts according to work order and customer requirements. Ensures machinery is set up, works properly, and conforms with (and can produce materials that conform with) company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards.

  • Operate one or more non-CNC controlled production machines to include but not limited to lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, saws, tape cutters, etc. Many duties also involve manual work and/or assembly duties that require the use of various hand tools, paint accessories, drills etc.

Essential Job Functions

  • Operate multiple types of fabrication equipment:
  • Operates tools according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts.
  • Load, operate and manufacture a variety of parts using various manufacturing equipment to make custom parts according to customer orders and instructions written on Work Orders and blueprints/drawings.
  • Complete project work by assembling parts that require the use of hand tools, paint accessories and mechanical devices.
  • Perform in-process inspection according to standard procedures.
  • Participate in cross training activities to become knowledgeable of equipment/process within the department
  • Perform routine daily machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubrication.
  • Assist with training other team members.
  • Follow safety rules and quality standards.
  • Model ethical and moral behavior consistent with the values and ideals supported by The Gund Company
Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • A High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing industry, preferred.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Perform work independently with minimal defects
  • Communicate with supervisor on work order priority
  • Open to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of parts
  • Very good math skills
  • Ability to understand drawing and blueprints
  • Ability to use basic measuring instruments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
