The Operations Staff Accountant supports the U.S. Accounts Payable Manager in ensuring sustained excellence in the U.S. Accounts Payable department’s operations and providing exemplary service to the department’s customer base.

Key responsibilities include developing and tracking departmental metrics, administering select processes, reconciling financial activity, resolving problems and discrepancies, supporting departmental strategies and assisting with daily activities.
Responsibilities:

General

  • Executes assigned daily, monthly and other responsibilities in support of the A/P function
  • Ensures exemplary service to attorneys, Firm practices and administrative colleagues
  • Develops sophisticated methods to track departmental metrics and report on activities
  • Administers select departmental processes
  • Develops solutions to ensure effectiveness of departmental processes
  • Performs various complex reconciliations; resolves discrepancies
  • Assists in automating departmental processes and activities
  • Supports Accounts Payable Manager with departmental strategies
  • Assists with daily accounts payable operations
  • Leads or assists with departmental projects and other tasks as assigned

Tactical
  • Develops comprehensive expertise on the department’s financial systems
  • Is on the cutting edge of industry technologies and innovations
Qualifications:
Education/Training/Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field strongly preferred, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when experience is directly related to the needs and expectations of the role

Professional Experience:
  • Three years+ accounting and/or analysis experience, strongly preferred
  • Experience in accounts payable or financial operations, strongly preferred
  • Experience in legal or other professional services environment, preferred
  • Savvy business sense and acumen, required

Technical Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to mine, analyze and interpret data, required
  • Exceptional accounting skills, including general ledger, reconciliations and complex spreadsheets, required
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite expertise (including Excel, Word, Outlook) required
  • Strong knowledge of financial software, tables and infrastructure, strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of accounts payable operations and systems, preferred
