This position can be based out of any of our regional offices in New York State (i.e. Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Rome, Albany) and supports a Hybrid work model.

The Operational Support Specialist will assist the Health Plan Leadership team to review, plan for and coordinate implementation of best practices. This position will be the policy and procedure point of contact and will be responsible for ensuring all policies and procedures are up to date and are being followed. The Operational Support Specialist will work in tandem with leadership as well as other support staff, including education team, audit team, analytics team etc., to best meet the needs of the department and organization.

Performance Responsibilities and Standards

  • Schedule and coordinate meetings ensuring timely notification of meeting to participants, agenda and meeting materials prepared and distributed.
  • Assist at meetings, and/or take minutes.
  • Balance conflicting priorities to manage workflow, ensure the completion of essential projects, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and other materials. Draft and edit correspondence, articles, reports, and presentations. Copy, scan, distribute, or mail finished correspondence or other materials as required.
  • Assist in coordinating departmental initiatives including EMR workgroup, Plan Partnership projects, SDOH and/or CMS initiatives/mandates, and any other departmental project needs.
  • Helps to organize appropriate project plans and ensure projects stay on track and that deliverable are met. If areas of risk are realized, appropriate and timely communication will occur.
  • Collaborates with MLTC Education Staff to identify needs to develop training and update current educational programs and modules.
  • Meets regularly with clinical and non-clinical teams and makes recommendations for process improvement. Helps to devise plan for implementation of changes.
  • Participate in creating, maintaining and streamlining Health Plan processes and policies.
  • Serve as a resource to Operational Leaders
  • Implement, review and update processes and resources related to the operations of the department.
  • Assist in leading the departmental SharePoint structure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in related field, or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to identify potential issues and participate in their resolution.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet, and various software applications.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively with ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Demonstrates discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Accuracy and attention to details and follow through.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Physical Requirements:

  • Speaking/visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend and express written/verbal communication
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, and kneeling frequently.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 40lbs.
  • Extended periods of computer use
  • Hepatitis B Category II for the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program-Employee who rarely has contact with Blood and body fluids
