Job Purpose Statement/s: To provide central oversight, technical leadership, expert guidance, coordination, and support to Olympia School District teachers, operations and programs districtwide on promoting, assessing, and maintaining web and information technology accessibility.

This continuing position is Monday Friday, 8:00am 4:30pm, with a combination of remote and in-person days.

Key Responsibilities:
Identify districtwide strategies and solutions to deliver accessible content on school district website and web applications.
Establish communication and monitor implementation of corrective actions with school and district support staff based on audit findings, suggesting necessary support procedures and training documentation.
Perform regular accessibility audits, including manual audits of password-protected and confidential sites, of the Olympia School District website and web applications, using a variety of screen readers and other assistive technology used by people with disabilities.
Perform accessibility evaluations for websites and applications/software under consideration for purchase and deployment.
Co-facilitate a committee to review Volunteer Product Accessibility Templates for district curriculum and web applications. Work with Olympia School District Technology Department to communicate with third-party vendors as necessary during review process.
Evaluate accessibility of external platforms that host institutional content, such as social media.
Establish guidelines, best practices and standards related to maintaining an accessible website and online materials.
Work in collaboration with departments including, but not limited to, Teaching and Learning, College and Career Readiness, Business, Human Resources, Athletics, Capital Projects, Student Support, Technology, and Communications and Community Relations departments.
Review ongoing accessibility reports of district website and web applications and assist with resolution work.
Coordinate and process district translation requests, including ensuring documents are accessible and as necessary fillable for posting online.
Other duties as assigned.


Outreach and Training:

Develop and implement outreach and training for content providers, including teachers, operations and programs districtwide. Act as a resource for staff at the school and department levels who are using the web to deliver instructional and/or support materials.
Conduct staff trainings on accessibility tools, including accessibility checkers for programs such as Office products, Adobe, Google and InDesign. Conduct trainings on document remediation.
Develop webinars or other online training materials.
