Overview:
This part-time, hourly position is with the Public & School Partnership (PSP), a federally-funded nonprofit organization based at the USU Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice department in Logan, UT. Generally speaking, the successful candidate will support the PSP administrative team and AmeriCorps VISTA members by coordinating PSP’s many service projects, quarterly conferences, recognition events, and engagement socials as well as assisting with social media outreach.

The successful candidate will report directly to PSP’s Project Director. Position details are below. Some aspects of the position are non-negotiable due to the fixed nature of PSP’s federal funding, and those that are negotiable are noted as such…

  • $16/hour
  • Part-time, 20 hours per week*
  • Non-benefited
  • Background checks required (as required by USU and AmeriCorps federal agency)
  • Work-related mileage reimbursement and access to USU motor pool service provided
  • USU-based office space, office supplies required to do job, and access to in-office IT equipment provided (computer, printer, software)
  • Paid professional development opportunities may be provided, pending available funding

  • Daily schedule can be negotiated, but candidate should expect to complete work during regular daytime work hours, Monday through Friday.
**Combination of remote and in-person work can be negotiated, but candidate needs to live in easy commuting distance to Cache County in order to complete/attend event-related assignments.

The Public & School Partnership (PSP) engages AmeriCorps VISTA members in local schools and nonprofit organizations with the ultimate goal of alleviating poverty in our community. PSP supports its AmeriCorps VISTA members and partner sites by connecting them to resources, professional and personal development opportunities, and engagement and recognition activities to ensure they have a rewarding National Service experience with PSP. The PSP administrative team is a small, enthusiastic team of service-minded individuals who all have experience with National Service, AmeriCorps, or service in general.
Responsibilities:
Possible responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Serving as primary coordinator of all events, both pre-event and on event day (e.g., confirming logistics of events, delegating assignments to PSP office team, creating USU-approved flyers and invitations, addressing event-related questions or unforeseen circumstances, set and meet deadlines, etc.)
  • Facilitating & documenting event meetings (e.g., sending out event meeting agenda and minutes to PSP office team, taking notes during meetings, etc.)
  • Drafting PSP’s annual calendar
  • Managing and updating events Google Drive folder
  • Making, assigning, and creating lists of event-related purchases (following USU & department purchasing protocols)
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 18 years of age or older
  • U.S. Citizen or legal state residency status
  • Part-time, 20 hours/week commitment
  • Job offer contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
  • Ability to attend weekly team meetings and facilitate weekly events meetings
  • Organized, detail-oriented, deadline-oriented, willing to follow up directly with coworkers and supervisor
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.)
  • Events coordination, community outreach, volunteer management, and resource generation experience
  • Ability to complete quality work both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to respond positively to changing or adverse circumstances

Advertised Salary: $16.00 per hour ADA:
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.

Funding Statement
The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee for service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
