Occupational Therapist – 20 hrs/wk (900OT)

Bayville, NY

Shifts: Flexible work schedule.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an approved Curriculum in Occupational Therapy
• Successful completion of the National Registration Examination
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
• Experience with feeding assessment and training
• New York State Licensure as an Occupational Therapist
• Master’s Degree from an approved Curriculum in Occupational Therapy preferred

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide supervision to COTAs including, but not limited to weekly supervision, co-treatments, training and performance evaluations.
• Assess the needs of residents regarding: treatment, adaptive equipment, positioning and handling and perform diagnostic evaluations and re-evaluations as needed.
• Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team regarding recommending evaluations and program plan development.
• Train and monitor facility staff regarding their participation and role in various occupational therapy programs that are desired to enhance the resident's physical control and skills.
• Review and follow-up on occupational therapy recommended for programs that are implemented at Day Program and carry over to the residence if appropriate.
• Record and maintain updated information pertaining to the resident's abilities including evaluations, the Comprehensive Functional Assessment, Abilities Profile, monthly and/or session notes.
• Initiate and maintain appropriate communication with other clinical disciplines as appropriate to assure coordination and integration of services.
• Act as a resource for consumers, families and staff in regard to clinical programs by encouraging their participation in the therapeutic process through shared decision making and training
• Train and monitor residential staff in therapeutic carry-over activities and safety practices related to the occupational therapy services (e.g. adaptive equipment).
• Maintain adequate occupational therapy medical records in accordance with regulatory and facility guidelines.
• Review and follow-up on occupational therapy recommendations and programs that are implemented at the Adult Day Treatment Program and carry over to the residence whenever applicable.
• Ensure facility is compliant with ICF regulations and life safety codes.
