Overview

This position will be direct hire with an automotive client. Choose a 4x10 or 5x8 schedule (first 6 months will be 5x8 with the choice to go to 4x10s after 6 months of service).

Scope of Position

Responsible for purchasing indirect materials and services within company locations using a variety of concepts, practices and procedures.

General Responsibilities of Purchasing/Buying Positions

  • Work closely with involved departments (specification, scope of work, approvals, lead times, etc)
  • Assist in driving optimizing delivery and inventory systems.
  • Communicate with managers & employees at respective locations.
  • Maintain status reports in Microsoft EXCEL or other reporting tools to document progress of procurement activities.
  • Lead teams in implementation of new suppliers, plants or process roll-out as needed.
  • Negotiate purchasing agreements focused on availability, price, and delivery.
  • Issue purchase orders as per company policy
  • Develop innovative approaches to review procurement process effectiveness.
  • Work with requisitioner for a proactive approach on repetitive orders (Consumables, office supplies, etc.)
  • Responsible for the non-production material purchasing processes (request, quote, create, send, confirm, receive, and pay)
  • Responsible for developing and executing supplier approval process.
  • Responsible for obtaining required supplier documentation and to complete and submit new supplier forms.
  • Adds new non-production material suppliers to the system as needed

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Other

  • Computer/software/manufacturing system knowledge of QAD, iPurchase or similar system. Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, organized, detail oriented, able to prioritize.
  • Interpersonal and experienced negotiation skills.
  • Experience and ability to function in a cross functional team environment

Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, production, or manufacturing experience (mainly handling of indirect materials; in a manufacturing or automotive industry)
  • Computer/software/manufacturing system knowledge of QAD, iPurchase or similar system required. Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, organized, detail oriented, able to prioritize.
  • Interpersonal and experienced negotiation skills.
  • Experience and ability to function in a cross functional team environment
  • Some travel required
  • Safety apparel (PPE) and uniform mandatory for site visits.
  • Must be able to continuously lift 30 to 75 lbs. and occasionally carry a distance of 30 to 50 feet.
  • Supervise and support all company policies including ISO 9001 2008/ISO 14000 and QOS adherence (where applicable) and Company Associate Handbook and Safety Manual.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
