Job description

Pursuant to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), The Nevada Health Link In-Person Assister (IPA) will help enroll community members into Qualified Health Plans (QHPs). IPA MUST be able to successfully pass an FBI background check and have an Exchange Enrollment Facilitator (EEF) certification issued by the Nevada Division of Insurance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to understand different federal, state, and local benefit programs and requirements
  • Knowledge of and ability to understand the Nevada Health Link web portal for enrollment
  • Knowledge of access to local community resources
  • Basic knowledge in operating a computer/laptop including Microsoft Office, databases, and e-mail
  • Basic skill in operating various office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax, smart phone, and telephone system
  • Attention to detail and can provide accurate reporting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and medical information according to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and calculate mathematical figures
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in assessing situations and making decisions
  • Ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members to build and enhance teamwork in the clinics and overall Community Health Alliance (CHA) organization
  • Ability to use excellent communication skills in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively and sensitively to all population groups
  • Ability to communicate professionally over the phone and in-person
  • Basic knowledge of different health programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, PPO, HMO, and MCOs

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. College degree preferred, but not required. Experience in health insurance, medical eligibility and/or medical setting preferred. English and Spanish fluency both verbal and written is a requirement
