THE POSITION

The Network Specialist will serve on the Integrated Information Management Systems Information Technology Support Services (IIMS-ITSS) contract for JSSC at the Pentagon, responsible for performing system and network monitoring of the assets on Joint Staff designated critical and special interest sites, and any other network management duties associated maintaining the performance and situational awareness of network assets supporting national military Command and Control (C2) systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide technical network performance management support and monitoring information systems operations for JSSC controlled C2 systems to include recording/reporting all scheduled and unscheduled outages in accordance with Government procedures
• Conduct special system performance analysis evaluations to ensure all intended system functionality, operations, and performance requirements are achieved and maintain systems and application
• Collect performance statistics from monitored devices including local WAN/LAN ports, premise routers, and servers, identifying potential performance problems using a series of government-provided monitoring and diagnostic tools and tests
• Perform essential network performance management/monitoring functions within a matrixed team of technicians to include both government and contractor, attend and actively participate in change and configuration control functions, and maintain the cybersecurity posture of the network enclaves managed
• Troubleshoot and actively work on incident management responses related to network-based systems, related toolsets, and unique customer requirements, complete proper documentation and follow through to develop strategies, policies, procedures to enhance the overall performance/capabilities of the supported networks
• Develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria associated with obtaining results under this contract; and identify upgrade needs and anticipate customer requirements by effectively planning, scheduling, and overseeing system upgrades
• Interact with outside organizations, customers, and contract leadership relating to complex technical issues/solutions in a manner to establish a partnership
• Improve the customers operating environment by providing expert support while also maintaining the cybersecurity/IA posture of systems/hardware managed/administered for both JSSC and JSSCs customers assets
• Comply with all safety and security requirements, policies, and procedures; worksite access protocols and updates, training requirements, required certifications, and other duties/projects as assigned

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• 100% on-site at the Pentagon

• Active Top Secret Security Clearance, AND;
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related discipline with 3 years of experience in Information Technology, OR;
• No Degree substituted for 7 years of information technology experience with 4 years of specialized experience, AND;
• 1 year of specialized experience in designing, testing, installing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks
