Koniag Technology Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer (SME) with a Top-Secret Clearance to support KTS and our government customer. The primary place of performance is in Virginia and/or within the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area (WMA). This is a remote opportunity.

Position Overview:
This position is for a Network Security Engineer (SME) in support the DOJ Justice Management Division (JMD)’s Mission by applying information technology solutions to their business processes.
This position will perform services related to: DMVPN, GRE, AT&T Business Direct, Cisco AnyConnect, BIG-IP F5, ServiceNow, FortiManager, TIC and MTIPS environments, Government network and cyber security policies and best practices, network address translation, Internet services, cloud concepts and environments, BlueCoat, Proofpoint, and InfoBlox, Windows and Linux operating systems, DOJ policies and procedures, DOJ components and their representatives. Tasks and special projects as determined by the Gov to be necessary for mission accomplishment. New and changing technologies. 24x7x365 coverage.

This individual will lead, or support assigned capabilities within Information Security with the focus on Securing Perimeter, Cloud, Automation and Manufacturing Systems. The Network Security Engineer will work with various partners at all levels internally to our client in a manner aligned with corporate values to define and implement Information Security Services strategies, standards, tools, and processes.
This team member will work jointly with other teams to implement technologies, processes, and other improvements in assigned Information Security capabilities. This will also include participation in on-call activities. This engineer will play a key role in designing, deploying, and maintaining solutions to build rapidly growing 24/7 global operations.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Management and implementation of physical as well as AWS-based firewalls, proxies, VPN
  • concentrators, and related network protection technologies.
  • Develops, implements, and sustains network operating rules, objects, and flows across a complex, global enterprise.
  • Collaborates with analysts, engineers, data scientists to deliver continuous improvement in cyber defense/resilience.
  • Work with and provide guidance to Security Operations and other Information Security team activities on security strategies, processes, response, and technologies
  • Provide support to Incident Response on security incidents including mock security incident exercises
  • Critically analyzes network infrastructure to find opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce the threat profile
  • Provide mentorship and training on areas of expertise to Information Security and other internal teams
  • Participate in audits covering network security services and technologies
  • Participate in proactive research and provide recommendations for continuous improvement on information security technologies, processes, and services
  • Participate in on-call coverage and perform effective escalation of problems and issues
  • Network Security Engineers will also present project status reports to senior management, adhere to policies and practices relative to technical guidelines and change management processes, and may contribute to the development of new policies and practices by suggesting innovative ideas
  • Work closely with business and application owners on design, troubleshooting, support, and documentation of new application deployment and enhancements
  • Architect, engineer, and troubleshoot Fortinet firewalls and services
  • Engineer/Support Retail and Corporate buildings/floors
  • Engineer application and network designs to ensure compliance with corporate security policies and security best practices
  • Attend planning meetings, including Discovery/Discovery Results/Architecture Council and provide suggestions on design.
  • Provide technical expertise in business initiatives and projects
  • Manage and lead internal IT initiatives and projects from other groups
  • Participate in on call rotation
  • Create end-to-end project tasks and expect to be accountable for entire project completion
  • Configure and install network and security related hardware and software
  • Perform scheduled and emergency network maintenance
  • Manage and maintain network and security documentation through collaborative applications
  • Work with application owners on troubleshooting issues, even though it may not be network related issue
  • Troubleshoot network and provide Post Incident Writeup (PIR) and present to management
  • Provide strong customer service and facilitate collaboration between project teams and clients.
  • Proactively identify, isolate, and resolve network problems to avoid minimal impact to the business
  • Perform internal audits and reviews to ensure compliance with all security policies and procedures which includes internal penetration and vulnerability scans
  • Evaluate new and emerging network security trends, products, and technologies
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must be able to demonstrate working in a 24/7 operational environment and working on call rotation.
  • Must be able to demonstrate working in an operational environment where priorities change frequently.
  • Must be able to demonstrate expertise in Systems Development Life Cycle framework.
  • Must be able to demonstrate expertise in the Agile Scrum methodology.
  • BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field preferred and 10-12 years of relevant experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting DOJ Justice Management Division or other Divisions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
