Job Responsibilities

• Prepare the natural resource planning, assessment and permitting documents for land development and infrastructure projects in close collaboration with Project Personnel;
• Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess the natural resource characteristics of project sites for natural resource assessment and permitting due diligence to plan and design projects;
• Perform natural resource feasibility assessments for development projects;
• Write and/or review draft due diligence reports, assessment and permit applications;
• Prepare site assessments and related natural resource figures using GIS and AutoCAD software;
• Coordinate and perform field inspection services, as needed; and
• Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or related discipline;
• 3-5 years of experience in wetlands delineation and natural resource permitting;
• Professional Wetland Scientist in Training preferred;
• Demonstrated experience in performing wetland delineations, environmental studies in the support of and/or preparing applications associated with the Section 94-C/Article 10, Section 102, and/or Article VII assignments;
• Familiarity with current local, New York State, local, and federal land use permitting;
• OSHA 40-hour training;
• Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
• Strong GIS skills preferred; experience with AutoCAD skills a plus;
• Ability to participate in field work; and
• Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing and reliable transportation access to remote job site locations.
