POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an Multifamily Assistant Superintendent to assists the Superintendent with the daily project execution for all field activities on large projects simultaneously, accountability includes overall project site management and adherence to schedule, budget and specifications.

Experience in commercial design/build construction with industrial, manufacturing, and warehousing experience a plus.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Management Responsibilities

  • Assist with onsite supervision to ensure the compliance of construction drawings and specifications. Notify project team and/or Architect of design concerns/issues.
  • Ensure all company safety policies and OSHA regulations are followed. Create, maintain, discipline and document a proper safety environment.
  • Supply the necessary personal protective equipment to our crew.
  • Assist in conducting weekly safety toolbox talk.
  • Discipline associates who fail to follow company safety policies and issue warnings to subcontractors regarding safety violations. Remove subcontractor from project if warranted.
  • Proper project documentation: daily log, EPA erosion issues, safety, personnel issues, weather.
  • Maintain cost awareness for all aspects of the project. Notify project team of anticipated exceptions to the estimate.
  • Establish and promote a high level of project quality that will enhance the reputation of the company.
  • Communicate and document expectations to subcontractors during weekly meeting.
  • Assist in scheduling workforce needs.
  • Assist in managing subcontractors on site including acknowledgement, verification and communication of additional work and/or field change orders. Assist in resolving subcontractor disputes.
  • Assist in scheduling all inspection and testing agencies.
  • Assist in supervising subcontractors/supplier performance and safety compliance. Document and give notice when necessary that performance may require subcontractor/supplier being removed from the project. Keep project team informed of any issues regarding performance.
  • Assist the project team in the preparation of weekly progress reports for client.
  • Assist in leading weekly jobsite progress meeting.
  • Maintain accurate as-built information. Maintain up to date construction documents and job files.
  • Communicate openly and often with MV office and project team.
  • Complete all field related documentation including daily logs, concrete and gravel logs, etc.
  • Verify accuracy of all material deliveries.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving constructability issues.
  • Document and notify subcontractor and project team of any back charges.
  • Approve all delivery tickets, code and turn them in to the office on a weekly basis.
  • Properly maintain company and rented equipment. Instruct associates on use and maintenance. Keep truck properly maintained and notify Equipment Supervisor of any repair needing performed. Ensure proper use of company owned computer and telephone equipment.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly jobsite, trailer, and signage (clean and organized with appropriate signage for safety, direction, identification and marketing).
  • Participate in project post mortem meeting to evaluate the performance of our crew, subcontractors, architects, etc. Document what worked well and what did not.
  • Participate in 11-month walk through with client, sales representative, and project team. Follow-up on any needed repairs.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain an effective working relationship with the entire project team to ensure product delivery.
  • Attend and participate in Superintendent meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain professional appearance when representing Miller Valentine.

Characteristics

  • Jobsite organization, management of the crew, organization skills plan of attack. Ability to communicate up and down the ladder.
  • Computer skills: keyboarding, emailing with attachments, print/sign/copy/fax, digital cameras/digital recorder.
  • Job documentation: consistent filing system, read documentation from the office and communicate feedback, photo documentation.
  • Professionalism: clothing, site look, appearance, grooming, job marketing, trailer, oversight of site and crew.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Four years minimum experience as a craftsman with tools with general knowledge of basic building methods framing, concrete interior finishes, mechanical trades, site work, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, as well as estimating and project management utilizing cost accounting software.


ATTENDANCE & TRAVEL

Regular attendance is required during normal working hours, at a minimum, which may also include weekend hours and may also vary depending on geographic location. Work beyond 40 hours per week may be required. Travel may be required, depending on project assignment, and may include overnight stays.
