POSITION SUMMARY

Assist in the care of patients by observing and interpreting patients’ heart rates and rhythms and all aspects of cardiac monitoring. Essential function includes, but not limited to, informing nurses and appropriate members of the health care team of important physiological and cardiac changes. Greet new and existing patients and visitors to the clinical area. Assist with patient admissions, discharges, or transfer paperwork and other clerical responsibilities as deemed necessary. Assist with maintaining adequate office and clinical supplies.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Ability to project a professional Image.
  • Exceptional knowledge of medical terminology and hospital processes

  • Strong customer service skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved arrhythmia or EKG interpretation class.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


  • Must maintain current Provider BLS Certification.
  • Basic Arrythmia Course – offered onsite


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Monitor and record physiological measurements including obtaining six second strip as indicated by patient condition.
  • Responsible for identification of patient arrhythmias, abnormalities or significant changes from baseline and reporting on the condition of patient to the appropriate supervisor or other health care team members.
  • Coordinate and assist with care as directed.
  • Care and maintenance of cardiac equipment.
  • Documents and interprets patient’s heart rhythm and rate by utilizing telemetry recordings.
  • Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of the hospital, and other local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility requesting the services.
  • Receive, screen and coordinate telephone calls from patients and healthcare providers.
  • Communicate information clearly to patients, family and staff.
