In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) contract in the near future, Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a Mission Systems Engineer to promote the defining and development of the Dynetics HLS Mission Systems that will be used to boost Dynetics Human Landing System operations. These operations will include planning, testing, development, training, and real-time operational activities.

The duties of the Mission Systems Engineer will be to:

• Contribute to the development of the overarching Mission Systems requirements as necessary to meet a mature and full mission systems design for the ability to aid testing, training, and operations for the HLS program.
  • Necessary development will include aid of Command and Control, data services, Voice, Video, IT Security, and Cyber Security needs.
• Provide assistance of Mission Systems implementation and integration as necessary to meet a mature, reliable, and fully functional platform to boost testing, training, and operations for the HLS program.
• Contribute to the development and sustainment of the Mission Systems integration for the HLS training simulators and crew stations with the MTC (Bldg. 5 Mission Training Center) products.
• Assist console tool development, test, and integration.
  • Tools and software products will be used by the Mission Operations team and for use by the engineering support team.
  • Partnership for these efforts will be through interaction with Dynetics and FOD operations team.

Frequent interactions with NASA FOD and Dynetics HLS Program personnel are necessary. The candidate will be asked to give technical and high-level presentations to a variety of panels and forums.

Basic Qualifications

• Candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science or master’s degree in Engineering (ABET), Physics, or Mathematics. Knowledge of engineering standards and the ability to apply them to real-time operations is necessary.
• Candidates will have at least 4+ years of work history in spaceflight mission operations.
• Candidates will be able to work and guide in a combined environment with multi-disciplinary engineering and mission operations teams.
• Excellent communication, social, management, teamwork, technical, and administrative skills are mandatory.
• Candidate should be a self-starter who excels in a dynamic environment that requires him/her to work effectively both alone and as part of a team.
• Position may periodically require working on nights, weekends, and holidays during Artemis mission operations.
• Candidates will be a US Citizen and this position requires successful completion of a government background check.

Candidates will be residents of the Houston area or willing to relocate to the Houston, TX area.

Other Qualifications

Preferred candidates may meet some of the following:

• Work history as a certified flight controller on a human spaceflight mission operations program
• Work history performing duties such as guiding design or technical operations, including aspects related to hardware, software, flight control, flight design, or ground support systems.
• Work history providing technical and team influence of ground, crew, or spacecraft capabilities which includes preflight design/planning, development of integrated operational products and services, preflight training, or real time mission execution.
