What’s the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a mid/senior-level geologist to support existing clients and help expand our groundwater assessment and remediation, closed landfill, and industrial compliance practice in western North Carolina and the Southeast. We are particularly interested in an individual who can lead tasks under a project manager, is detail-orientated with critical thinking skills, is a committed team player, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. Project/task management and client management experience is a plus. The ideal candidate would be able to perform technical work and reporting primarily focused on groundwater, surface water, and stormwater sampling as well as contractor management and construction oversight. The candidate will help manage tasks from planning through design and implementation.


Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Perform and/or oversee technical analyses for projects that may include design for landfill repairs and slope stability analysis, stormwater management projects, and groundwater remediation assessments
  • Assist with or lead field efforts such as groundwater, soil, sediment, and surface water/stormwater sampling, and site characterization involving drilling and monitoring well installation
  • Task management, including team assignments and coordination, contractor management, development of scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for projects, and manage their successful completion
  • Visit project sites to perform site assessments and oversee construction (potential for regional and national travel for up to approximately 10-20%, depending on project needs)
  • Organize and analyze data, prepare and review written reports, technical studies, and permit applications
  • Coordinate with Anchor QEA’s team of engineers, geologists, scientists and support staff throughout the project lifecycle

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • BS or MS degree in Geology or similar field
  • 8-12 years of experience in related field
  • PG licensure in North Carolina is desired, but consideration will be given to individuals on track to become licensed in 1 year
  • Ability to assist with, or lead field efforts such as soil, sediment, and water sampling, and closed landfill management
  • Ability to quickly obtain, analyze and synthesize information and integrate into project specific needs
  • Working knowledge of specialized software such as ArcGIS, gINT, RockWorks, or Earth Volumetric Studio is preferred
  • Experience in contractor management and oversight
  • Experience managing projects/tasks and interfacing with clients
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A willingness to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously, across disciplines internally and externally, adhere to deadlines, and work in a client service-oriented team environment
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, an ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A working knowledge of health and safety practices
