Position Summary

The Mental and Behavioral Health Division Manager will supervise and oversee a variety of professional behavioral health responders’ supervisors, support staff and activities to include administrative support staff. Plans, assign schedules, reviews and evaluates the work of staff to include Mobile Crisis Team Clinicians and Behavioral Health Responders. As well as the formulation of policies in accordance with Local, State, and/or Federal regulations; coordination of assigned activities with other division managers, departments and outside agencies. Provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Community Safety Department management team.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Work under potentially abusive, hazardous or emergency conditions.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Master's degree from an accredited university or college; and

Six (6) years’ experience in social services or health related field.

To include Four (4) years of supervisory experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Successful completion of the initial training certification including obtaining the Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder certification and all initial requirements therein within twelve (12) months from date of hire or transfer into position.

Possession of any of the following licenses or certifications preferred: Licensed Masters of Social Work (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

May work evening, night, weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts.

  • Operations, services and activities of social service and behavioral health programs
  • Familiarity with public safety dispatch operations, radio operation, and multidisciplinary emergency response
  • Principles and practices of program development, administration and policy development
  • Principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and administration
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • General understanding of grant programs and requirements
  • Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
