Job Description: Medical Technologist

• Positions available at both Northwest Community Hospital & Edward-Elmhurst Health

Shift/Hours:

• Northwest Community Hospital: Night Shift, FT, 40 hrs/wk, 11:00pm - 7:30 am
• Edward-Elmhurst Health: Evening & night shift available, FT, 40 hrs/wk

Holiday/Weekend Requirement:

• Northwest Community Hospital weekends are Saturday – Sunday, every 3rd weekend
• Northwest Community Hospital holidays are 2 holidays (1 summer, 1 winter)
• Edward-Elmhurst Health weekends are Saturday - Sunday, every other weekend
• Edward-Elmhurst Holidays are rotating

Pay Scale: Based on years of experience. Starts at $26.77/hour for NCH and $28.05 for EEH.

Responsibilities:

Medical Technologist is a highly skilled health professional who tests and analyzes blood, other body fluids, and tissue samples. Med Techs are responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment used to analyze specimens and ensuring that tests are completed in a correct and timely manner.

Must Haves:

Licensure: n/a

Experience: Formal Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist training OR experience working in a clinical setting for a lab as a MLT, MT, or MLS.

• This is a generalist position - must be familiar with blood bank, hematology & microbiology

Education: BS degree required. Preferably in Medical Technology. Will consider candidates with degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology if they have Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist experience.
