We’re looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist who’s looking for a new and unique opportunity to build the future of independent, high-complexity labs.

As the Medical Laboratory Technologist at Midwest Innovation Lab, and in accordance with CLIA, Medical Technologist will provide day-to-day supervision of testing personnel and reporting of test results. In the absence of the director and technical supervisor, the Medical Technologist must be responsible for the proper performance of all laboratory procedures and reporting of test results.

At Midwest Innovation Lab, the Medical Technologist will be responsible for:

  • Providing day-to-day bench work of high complexity tests
  • Must be accessible to clients at all times testing is performed to provide on-site, telephone or electronic consultation to resolve technical problems
  • Monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained
  • Hire and provide orientation to new lab employees, including annually evaluate and document the performance of all testing personnel
  • Assure that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications
  • Ensure that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and that the test systems is properly functioning

  • Can perform several tasks at one time (i.e., multi-tasking)
  • Communicates laboratory procedures and reports effectively to the laboratory staff, upper management, and other relevant company personnel
  • Recognizes that off-shift and weekend hours are occasionally required to meet the demands of the workload

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have earned a Ph.D., Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; and have a least 3-5 year of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing.

Appropriate experience in analytical toxicology &/or chemistry, Hematology including experience with the analysis of biological material for drugs of abuse, pain medications, general chemistry and immunoassay testing is highly encouraged, as well as experience with initial testing methods and confirmation testing methods on LC/MSMS instrumentation. Extra consideration will go to any Supervisor candidates that have qualified as a CLIA Laboratory Director or a CLIA Technical Supervisor.
