Position Overview:
The Remote Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for the timely submission of medical claims to insurance companies. The ideal candidate should have experience conducting Medical Billing and have exposure to insurance verification.
Responsibilities of the Remote Medical Billing Specialist:
- Check eligibility and benefits/insurance verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures
- Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
- Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
- Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies through our EMR (eClinical Works system).
- Ensure the patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date.
- Prepare bills and invoices and document amounts due to medical procedures and services.
- Investigate and appeal denied claims.
Qualifications for the Remote Medical Billing Specialist:
- 1-3+ years of experience within Medical Billing
- Ability to work remotely
- Ideally located in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT)
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Familiarity with HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid Excellent organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
Education Requirements:
- A High School diploma/GED certification is required
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
