AAI is actively recruiting a Medical Appointment Clerk to support the 9th Medical Group located in 15301 Warren Shingle Rd, Beale AFB CA 95903.
The 9th Medical Group supports worldwide operational readiness and the U-2/RQ-4 high-altitude mission of the 9th Reconnaissance Wing and responds to medical contingencies worldwide. Through teamwork, innovation and efficient utilization of resources, the 9th MDG provides comprehensive dental, physiological, medical and environmental support, as well as promotes health education and wellness to the Beale community. Its primary mission is to maintain medical readiness for worldwide contingencies by providing quality, cost effective health care for more than 6,000 enrollees and coordinating care for 22,000 eligible beneficiaries.
This project requires AAI to provide support for all necessary equipment and labor required to perform services for military treatment facilities (MTFs). Additionally, AAI monitors, manages and reports on services for higher management and develops plans to improve timeliness and accuracy rates, service availability, and overall MTF performance and compliance.
Responsibilities
The individual Medical Appointment Clerk for the medical treatment facility (MTF) and its geographic area of responsibility. Schedules appointments computer system for primary care, specialty and subspecialty medical care. In addition to scheduling requested appointments, this position will call patients or respond to secure messaging submissions to schedule, reschedule, and/or cancel appointments as needed, to include appointments for consult/referral specialty care within the MTF or at civilian facilities. Upon direction of POC Government supervisor performing medical records (e.g., Release of information). In addition to monitoring, managing and reporting on services for higher management and developing plans to improve timeliness and accuracy rates, service availability, and overall MTF performance and compliance. Medical Appointment Clerk must have the following:
  • A fully qualified typist (computer keyboard) with a minimum of 50 WPM is required.
  • Clearly speak and understand the English language.
  • Use of standard office equipment, such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephone systems.
  • Possess general medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services from phone calls, secured messaging or other methods used for appointment requests. Supports PCM by name processing for appointments and appropriate access to care timeframes during the allocation of standard appointment types.
  • Maintains appointment schedules using a Government computer system (Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS), AHLTA or MHS GENESIS.
Requirements
  • Education. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
  • Experience. At least 6 months of experience in medical office scheduling.
  • Work Environment/Physical Requirements. The work is mainly sedentary but may require walking, bending, standing, and/or carrying of light items such as files, manuals, and medical records.
