Job Summary:

The Media Director is a direct report to the Tribal Chair. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining various media content and development for the Tribes. Manages social media and various online platforms through strategic research, planning and monitoring to increase awareness, improve communication and promote Tribal services. Maintains functional and appealing visual designs and provides creative content for digital technologies. Additional duties as assigned.

Duties & Functions:

  • Develop, manage and oversee social media content, digital photography, graphics, flyers and text.
  • Develop and design graphics and videos for message postings through digital equipment and software.
  • Use of social media marketing tools such as Facebook, Facebook Live, YouTube and other media platforms and tools.
  • Responds to social media postings as appropriate, with adherence to policy.
  • Writes high quality content, including captions, creative messaging, interactive messages and short stories within social media standards.
  • Researches content for accuracy and relevance.
  • Builds audiences through social media for business use and communication strategies.
  • Promote community engagement and Tribal brand awareness.
  • Works with Executive Offices to schedule postings of events, activities, and notifications to the CRIT community.
  • Deliver real time messages and updates.
  • Collects data through analytics and statistics on social media platforms for reporting.
  • Monitor trends in social media best practices, tools, applications and technologies.
  • Review and approve content on a daily or timely basis.
  • Provides administrative oversight for social media profile and collaborate with I.T. to update and edit CRIT website.
  • Openly cooperative and communicative about work schedule, attendance, and punctuality a must.
  • Organizing and manages assigned work so that requirements are met in an effective and timely manner.

Required Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Knowledge of the history, culture, laws, customs and traditions of the Colorado River Indian Tribes.
  • Knowledge of design, photography, videography, and creative positioning.
  • Knowledge and ability to post in social media platforms and applications.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Premier Pro or other media editing software.
  • Knowledge of interactive media tools and technologies.
  • Skill in establishing effective working relationships with Tribal Council, Tribal Members, Departments and Enterprises and community members.
  • Skill and ability in project management and organization.
  • Ability to proofread accurately, edit clearly and create impactful and accurate copy under pressure while consistently meeting normal deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask in a high demand work environment.
  • Skills related to organization, working independently, self-motivation, time and task practices.
  • Ability and knowledge in creating and maintaining various computer databases, utilizing keyboard input skills.
  • Ability to correctly, pleasantly and professionally use the telephone.
  • Strong customer service skills in person as well as written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism from superiors and to take corrective action.
  • Knowledge, skill and ability in Microsoft Word, and Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Adobe.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Education to support correct use of grammatically correct writing
  • Must possess a current valid driver’s license throughout employment.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that will allow the satisfactory performance of the duties and responsibilities of the job.

Education & Experienced Preferred:

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in social media marketing, public relations or a new media environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to stand and or sit at least eight (8) hours a day.
  • Must successfully complete a drug screening test prior to appointment.
  • Physically able to perform duties assigned.
  • Occasionally work extended shifts as assigned, including some weekends and holidays.
