Position Summary:
Schafer Industries is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer for its Schafer Driveline operation in Fredericktown, OH.

Job Summary:
The design engineer position is responsible for the engineering of products involving design and redesign in accordance with time schedules, quality parameters, customer needs, market needs and manufacturing capabilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Handles all aspects of design engineering work using Pro-E (Creo).
  • Creates solid models and detail drawings using Pro-E Software.
  • Some communication with customers in the form of quotations, meetings, and presentations to understand and define their needs.
  • Understands and respond to customer requests, both verbal and written.
  • Designs product to meet all requirements provided by Product/Application Engineers and customers.
  • Creates and maintains bill of materials within the MRP system.
  • Manages several projects at one time.
  • Assists drafting, the test lab, manufacturing, quality, and planning as required.
  • Handles all changes and problems related to product assigned.
  • Responsible for entire product life cycle
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Associates’ degree and one to three years design experience
  • Technical Capacity.
  • Project Management.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis.
  • Communication Proficiency
  • Customer/Client Focus
  • Basic understanding of axle functions and components preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD modeling and 2D orthographic drafting practices
Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
