Job description

Experienced construction professional needed to install equipment on commercial construction sites. This is a lead installation mechanic position. Equipment includes accessibility (ADA) equipment such as vertical and inclined platform (wheelchair) lifts, LULA (limited use, limited application) elevators as well as residential elevators. Experience in the construction trades necessary but it is not necessary to have elevator construction experience.

Our family-owned business has been around since 1975. We are in Northern New Jersey.

We are currently looking to add to our outstanding team. We are looking for a Project Manager to manager and oversee our projects that include the install of lift, home elevators and accessibility equipment.

Mechanic - Lift Installation

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to handle multiple jobs at one time.
  • Experience working on construction sites.
  • Must have transportation, a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Experience reading electrical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools.
  • Familiarity with trades such as elevators, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, etc.
  • Knowledge of Basic Math/Geometry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of learning on the job rather than formal training.

Experience:

  • Skilled use of hand tools: 1 year (Required)
  • reading electrical diagrams and blueprints: 1 year (Preferred)
  • working on construction sites: 1 year (Preferred)

License:

  • Valid Drivers License (Required)

To be successful in this role, you will need to focus on customer service. You will need to be able to speak with customers to gain an understanding of their expectations and focus on meeting or exceeding those expectations.

Leadershipis another essential trait. We are looking for someone with the ability to coordinate work with others, mentor those under them and foster a sense of ownership of the project. The ability to run a construction project from the planning stage to execution and tying up loose ends is key.

There are no supervisors on site so the successful candidate will need to be self-motivated. There must be a sense of urgency in resolving issues with a focus towards quality not just quantity of work done. The ability to communicate and interact professionally with all customers and contacts at all levels within an organization is critical.
