Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine services on equipment
- Maintain and repair trucks, feed trucks, backhoes, tractors and other feedyard equipment
- Examine vehicle and discuss the nature and extent of damage or malfunction
- Disassemble unit and inspect parts for wear
- Repair or replace parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings
- Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps
- Rebuild parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks
- Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels
- Adjust brakes, align front ends, repair or replace shock absorbers
- Replace and adjust headlights, and install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers
- Operate equipment such as loader, tractor, dump truck, or skid steer when shop is slow
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to read and understand policies, work orders, and equipment manuals
- Ability to problem solve complex issues
- Ability to utilize maintenance software programs
- Able to work with others to meet deadlines
Education and Experience
- 1 year certificate from college or technical school; 3 to 6 months related experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
