Camp Counselor - Traditional Camp

Full-Time/Seasonal

Non-Exempt/Hourly

Reports To: Camp Manager – Traditional Camp

General Role:

To lead campers ages 5-12 through their daily routine participating in all activities and represent the camp in a professional manner that promotes an energetic, fun, team-like atmosphere.

Specific duties:

• Create a fun and adventurous camp environment;
• Ensure the safety of all campers, staff, etc.;
• Supervising campers assigned to the group at all times;
• To plan, assist and support special activities;
• Coordinating and supporting the efforts of counselors assigned to the group;
• Designates which counselors have direct responsibility for which campers on a daily basis;
• Communicate information and needs to managers and director;
• Responsible for written documentation such as Incident or Accident reports and appropriate follow through;
• Attend all staff training and meetings;
• Deal with behavioral issues following the PADONIA Summer Camps guidelines;
• Take camper headcounts upon arrival and departure of all activities;
• Assist campers with the application of sunscreen throughout the camp day;
• Clean up area following the completion of all activities;
• Follow all safety and health guidelines as outlined by the company; and,
• All other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

• 18+ years old;
• High School graduate or higher;
• 2+ years experience working with children;
• Available Monday to Friday from June 20, 2023 to August 25, 2023;
• Ability to lead and motivate;
• Organized;
• Fun-loving and energetic;
• Submit to pre-placement background check with favorable results; and,

Environmental Conditions and Physical Expectations:

• Must be able to work in outdoors venues that include a variety of weather conditions including hot or cold temperatures as well as rain and humidity.;
• Must be able to participate in swimming and wading activities during the summer session which will require wearing a swimsuit and getting into the pools;
• Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time as long as 4+ hours;
• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time up to approximately two hours;
• Must be able to lift 20-40 lbs for preparation, emergency medical, or evacuation purposes;
• Must be able to work shifts that include arriving/departing in both daylight/nighttime conditions; and,
• Must be able to engage in physical activities that include walking, jumping, running, throwing, stretching, etc.

Pay: $18.50 per hour

Experience:

• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
• Martial Arts: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• First Aid Certification (Preferred)
• CPR Certification (Preferred)
