Job Summary and Qualifications

The Market Point of Care (POC) Coordinator position is responsible for the technical oversight and daily operations of the Trident Health System Point of Care program, specifically for the outlying locations. This Market POC Coordinator will work in conjunction with the POC Coordinator(s) located in the acute hospital setting to implement, maintain and develop the POC program to serve the needs of patients and providers while complying with all applicable regulations. Develops policies and procedures, researches and performs all testing necessary to implement POC instruments, assures competency testing of staff and provides training and support for all employees as needed. Works closely with other hospital departments to ensure excellent customer service. Job responsibilities include ensuring compliance with any applicable CAP, AABB, FDA, and JCAHO guidelines and other regulatory agencies as needed.


Position Requirements:


A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Must be currently registered or eligible for certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist by American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Medical Technologists, National Credentialing Agency OR US Department of Health Education Welfare.


B. Education:
BS in Medical Technology or Baccalaureate degree plus completion of a NAACLS Medical Technology program. Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science. Must meet CLIA qualifications for testing personnel.

C. Experience:

1. Requires laboratory experience.

2.Performs in accordance with delineated job responsibilities and satisfactorily completes a yearly evaluation based on these responsibilities.

3. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of the patient/internal & external customer.

B. Special qualifications: Must possess good computer skills and customer service skills.
