Nesco is seeking a Manufacturing Manager to join our client's team at their New Milford, CT location.

Summary:

The Manufacturing Manager manages and oversees the Transformer Assembly areas for oil-filled and air-cooled/dry transformers. This includes lamination, final assembly and tanking. Transformer sizes range from 1 MVA to 50 MVA.

Functions:

  • Manages and oversees Transformer Assembly and Lamination Department for new and repair jobs.
  • Provides direct supervision to the Team Leaders and employees of the Transformer side of Production while shifting to performing hands-on production tasks.
  • Provide a quality product and drive labor costs down to provide a competitive cost in the market.
  • Reads prints to build complex mechanical assemblies to lead and direct team.

Familiarity with the following:

  • High-voltage and low-voltage lead formation.
  • Coil pressing, lead cleaning, taping, lugging.
  • Coil wedging, magnetic lamination, bus bar assembly.
  • High-voltage and high-current physical clearance standards.
  • Core and coil isolation to ground.
  • Other key transformer areas as designated by management.
  • Coordinates workflow with department supervisors to set up daily/weekly/monthly goals.
  • Consistently meets or beats budgeted labor hours for department(s).
  • Strives for on-time shipments.
  • Run informal and formal team meetings assure daily assignments and goals are on track.
  • Trains employees for best practices using work procedures.
  • Create/revise work procedures/instructions.
  • Manages and monitors labor hours and shortages.
  • Reviews schedule, spec packages, drawings and BOMs prior to issuing material per schedule.
  • Meets with planning and plant manager on issues and concerns.
  • Identifies special requirements such as materials, processes and equipment needed.
  • Gives feedback for continuous improvement on Engineering Change Requests (ECR), corrective action requests, manufacturing instructions and rules book.
  • Makes recommendations & suggestions regarding materials, specifications, techniques, practices, issues or anything quality related.
  • Attends planning and production meetings.
  • Analyzes estimated labor hours for correctness.
  • Meets production schedule/objectives and assigns work accordingly.
  • Reviews labor cards and reporting. Analyzes estimated labor hours vs. actual and reports variances and suggestions and recommendations.
  • Promotes and enforces safety within department.
  • Enforces company policies.
  • Assesses performance of direct reports by completing 90-day and annual reviews.
  • Completes absences request for employees as needed.
  • Monitor attendance.
  • Monitors, addresses and enforces regular Human Resource management issues for direct reports.

Education - Experience:

  • Requires at least 5 years' experience in large, industrial manufacturing industry; transformer manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience or assistant supervisor experience in manufacturing organization.
  • Must be able to balance supervisory/managerial duties and providing direction to the team with hands-on production tasks.
  • Must be able to speak English; Spanish speaking/fluency is a plus.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
