Job Summary:

As a Manufacturing Engineer leading projects, you will design and develop manufacturing processes and systems focused on exceeding quality, reducing cost, and implementing lean practices within the manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Process engineering change requests.
  • Assist in troubleshooting assembly and fabrication equipment.
  • Support and/or lead Lean projects and initiatives.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Developing and implementing cost-saving measures and quality control systems.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Designs and modifies jigs, fixtures and tooling to improve manufacturing methods and improve quality.
  • Develops work instructions for production processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer OR an Associate degree and a minimum of six (6) years of experience.
  • Knowledge of classic industrial engineering principles including time studies, line balancing and equipment utilization analyses.
  • Previous manufacturing and project management experience required.
  • Aptitude for mechanical/electrical application as related to equipment/processes.

Preferred skills

  • PLC knowledge /programming.
  • Familiarity with various fabrication processes (laser cutting, press brakes, tube bending, stamping).
  • Experience with lean tools and manufacturing practices.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Experience with Solidworks CAD/CAM and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) for component and tooling design.
