Engagement Manager
From loud machine shops carving up aluminum to quiet clean rooms printing circuit boards, there are hundreds of manufacturers creating thousands of jobs - right here in San Jose. Keeping it local. Making us proud.
We need additional support in developing and maintaining lines of communication to ensure that San Jose manufacturers get the support that they need. Which is where you come in.
Here are the kinds of questions you might get:
- HR – What am I not allowed to ask during a job interview?
- Financials – On paper we’re profitable, why is cash flow so tight?
- Space – Can you help us find a bigger factory?
- Supply Chain – Lead times are getting worse. Any advice?
- Production Efficiency – Can we do better in meeting deadlines?
- Sales – Should we be buying ads? On which platform?
You’ve probably worn a lot of hats so in some cases you’ll know exactly what to say. But when you get stumped we have a team of specialists to lean on: staff + volunteer advisers.
DAY TO DAY
We’re working from home but we’re also regularly visiting factories to meet manufacturers in person (so you’ll need to be fully vaccinated). We send and respond to lots of emails, we document everything, and meet with each other and our advisors “face-to-face” via video.
Don’t quote me, but your time with us might look something like this:
40% - Direct advising
30% - Documenting and admin
10% - Networking and building relationships
10% - Events: Organizing, promoting, and facilitating webinars, orientations, online workshops, in-person meetings.

You know San Jose and you know manufacturing. In a perfect world you’ve managed people and production for a manufacturer. You speak the language.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation for this position will depend on the breadth, relevance and depth of your experience. The range for this position is $75-85,000.
SFMade covers 100% percent of your medical, dental and vision premiums. Our annual PTO is 4 weeks annually.

In partnership with the City of San Jose, SFMade launched MFG: SJ in 2018 to drive resources, knowledge, and visibility to the city’s more than 1,200 manufacturers. SFMade is a first-of-its-kind, non-profit economic development organization serving as a national model focused on providing industry specific guidance, education, and resources to the manufacturing sector.
