Position Purpose:

The Manager, Technical Accounting will ensure the Company's compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules and regulations, ensure high level of quality in Company's implementation and maintenance of research and reporting infrastructure, and assist with financial analysis to enhance financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a high level of technical proficiency in US GAAP and SEC Regulations.
Assist external reporting team with complex regulatory reporting matters.
Manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Critically evaluating applicability of new accounting literature to Home Depot, preparing quarterly and ad-hoc technical accounting memos, maintaining effective internal controls and ensuring accounting activities are both regulatory and U.S. GAAP compliant.
Provide technical accounting consultation and support to internal constituents regarding US GAAP and practical implementation thereof, including, but not limited to, special projects, revenue recognition, segment reporting, earnings per share, goodwill and long-lived asset impairments, exit costs obligations, variable interest entities, lease accounting (including embedded leases) etc.
Team with Accounting Policy to ensure changes in GAAP are appropriately reflected in The Home Depot's Accounting Policy Manual.
Research, interpret, and document all new accounting standards and how each applies to The Home Depot as well as comply with external 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements
Manage and function as liaison in Company-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects that directly impact accounting area to ensure U.S. GAAP compliance.
Provide or manage transaction technical accounting & application analysis.
Review accounting conventions to ensure Home Depot's non-GAAP policies would not have a significant effect to any one period on a quantitative basis.
Review and monitor SAB99 analysis to evaluate errors in financial statements using both the "iron curtain" method and "rollover" method.

Travel Requirements:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles
Working Conditions:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
Ability to draw accurate conclusions from financial documentation
Ability to convey complex or technical ideas and processes in easy-to-understand terms to diverse audiences
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A CPA designation is strongly preferred, with a Master of Accounting being a plus
Excellent audit and financial accounting experience, prior experience with a Big 4 accounting firm preferred.
Demonstrated technical skills including the ability to research complex accounting literature and complete technical analysis with thorough level of documentation
Maintains utmost, highest integrity in all aspects of position and is transparent in communications.
Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills essential, with the demonstrated ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the global organization. Professional stature to quickly gain respect and build collaborative working relationships throughout the company.
