Manager, Business Analytics

The Analytics group at Chegg is a central group that enables data-driven decision making at Chegg – we use data and analyses to support every business line as well as the marketing, finance, and product organizations. It is a team composed of analysts, data scientists, economists, mathematicians, statisticians and engineers. We use a world-class set of instrumentation, analysis and data science technologies to transform our data into insights and then into knowledge.
While the analytics group is centralized, we heavily partner with our stakeholders to ensure insights delivered are directly usable for decision making and ultimately adds value to Chegg.

The Role:
We are seeking an analytical, creative and motivated Manager to lead a small team of Analysts in driving product and business decisions for Chegg’s Learning Services team.
Chegg’s learning tools include Expert Q&A, Textbook Solutions, Test Prep, and Flashcards – and there are ambitious plans to continue to expand into new services that improve learning outcomes.
The candidate will leverage data to uncover new insights and improve decision making in the organization. Strong communication and analytic skills are critical for success in this role. Persistence, creativity, strong detail-orientation and a strong desire to improve will make you successful in this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor 3-5 analysts.
- Develop and define key business insights to help optimize business operations and guide decision-makers and executives.
- Engage with finance team to build highly reliable forecast and provide predictability to the subscription business
- Engage with leaders of product, marketing, and business to drive the future strategy for the company – grounded in analytics.
- Identify key levers in the business and support goal-setting process by uncovering trends
- Conduct and present ad-hoc analyses to inform roadmap decisions and investments
- Build thoughtful and detailed models to support business cases
- Partner with engineers, marketers and product managers to solve pressing issues and build new features
- Partner with data teams to support the vision, roadmap, and delivery of analytics infrastructure that ensures reliable delivery of high-quality data and insights
- Establish framework, processes, and guidelines for how Analytics should engage with stakeholders
Requirements
- Diligent and consistent ability to follow-through on long, comprehensive projects
- Strong analytical skills, organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to understand the big picture and the fine details around a business area
- Strong desire to learn, with the goal of becoming an expert in the student services business
- Ability to communicate ideas and key points clearly with every level within the organization
- Support the company's corporate culture including adhering to established ethical standards
- Must be persistent, creative and have strong team skills
- Enjoy fast-paced working environment
Qualifications
- 8+ years of demonstrated success in business analytics and/or data science.
- 1+ year management experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A.) from a university; technical fields preferred (Business, Math, Statistics, Engineering, etc) or equivalent training or equivalent work experience.
- Strong business acumen and analytic skills
- Fluency in SQL
- Advanced computer proficiency skills using Excel and Powerpoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The pay range for this position is $168,924 to $313,716. The actual pay will vary based on geographic location, job requirements, professional experience, and other factors.
