SUMMARY
Performs various types of general maintenance work, including plumbing and piping, metal fabrication, installation, relocation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment, maintenance of electrical equipment, building additions and alterations, welding and burning, carpentry and painting, and follows lockout procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs general maintenance operations, such as welding, pipefitting, leveling of machinery, carpentry, and other operations.
- Sets up and operates machinery, such as saws, drill presses, woodworking equipment, pipe threaders, and other machinery incidental to general maintenance work.
- Troubleshoots (assembles, disassembles, repairs, and installs) mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
- Erects, installs, tests, and maintains equipment and structures, such as jib cranes and air compressors.
- Sets up and operates production equipment as required.
- Follows lockout procedures for each piece of equipment serviced.
- Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Maintenance Group Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Prefer a high school education or equivalent
- Prefer at least three years of general maintenance experience, including knowledge of mechanical maintenance principles, pneumatics, welding, carpentry skills, and ability to read schematic diagrams.
