JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Maintenance to join our growing team.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintenance:
- Inspect and understand equipment operation.
- Assist Millwrights and Operators with mechanical repairs of machines and equipment.
- Organize and keep inventory of oils, greases and lubricants in Lubricant Storage room, report shortages to Stockroom Tender.
- Understand the different types of lubricants and where they are used and apply as needed.
- Make rounds during shift to inspect equipment by looking, listening and feeling of operating machines and be able to notice any changes from normal operation.
- Use and maintain required tools and equipment to perform maintenance tasks skillfully and safely.
- Operate forklift and other rolling stock in a safe and efficient manner.
- Quality:
- Perform all work with a high regard for quality.
- Ensure all containers are clean and free of dirt and debris when dispensing oils.

- Housekeeping:
- Maintain good housekeeping standards and cleanup after all jobs.
- Keep store rooms clean and walkways clear of obstacles and sharp objects that could cause trip hazards or personal injury.
- Clean up any spills immediately and dispose of oily rags properly.
- Communications:
- Report any concerns or deficiencies to the Maintenance Manager.
- Be professional and maintain good communication with co-workers and work together to maintain all equipment in top working condition.
- Production:
- Work with production employees to gather information to assist in troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.
- Work at a steady pace to maintain a consistent amount of production on each shift.
- General:
- Keep safety in the forefront of all activities.
- Keep plant in top operating condition at all times.
- Disable and report in unsafe or damaged tools.
- Perform all other duties assigned by management.
Safety Analysis
Safe Work Practices and Required Physical Needs:
- Commit no unsafe acts. Stay aware of the task at hand and consider all safety issues prior to starting. Look out for co-worker safety.
- Keep all work areas clean and free of debris. Be alert for slip and trip hazards. Housekeeping is required of all personnel.
- Long hair must be tied back above collar. Loose clothing is not allowed on floor including but not limited to: Dangling Pant Legs, Neck Ties, Long or Dangling Belts, and Hooded Sweatshirts. No jewelry is allowed including but not limited to: Rings, Watches, and Necklaces. Follow dress code requirements.
- Use proper lifting techniques. Lifting is required up to 50 pounds
- Watch for forklift and vehicle traffic.
- Job tasks include extended periods of walking, standing, and the use of steps and ladders. Follow paths meant for human passage and always maintain three points of contacts on steps and ladders.
- Only use an approved vacuum and low pressure devices to remove fiber and sawdust from clothing.
- Avoid contact with hot steam pipes, equipment, and dies.
- Comply with all safety training and PPE requirements.
- Notify manager of non-traditional tasks prior to starting.
Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Eye Protection: Required in all production areas – inside and out.
- Hearing Protection: Required at all times when machinery is operating or excessive noise is being generated.
- Gloves: Various gloves are available. Leather and work gloves for handling door skins, metal, or hot materials. Nitrile gloves for use with resin. Rubber gloves for use with propane, primer, or other liquids.
- Dust Masks: Available for use around airborne solids including non-pregnated fiber, primer dust, and saw dust/fuel.
- Full Face Respirator: A full face respirator is required when handling liquid resin or airborne fiber is present and there is a risk of contact with the fibers. A requirement for this job is to be approved for use of the respirator.
- Face shield and safety glasses are required: When you are using or within 10 feet of any of the following: die buffing wire wheels, power wire brush, cut-off wheel, portable grinder, and filling of propane tanks.
- Goggles are required: When you are using an air wand or if you are within 10 feet of someone else who is using an air wand; whenever suspended solids are present.
- Disposable Coveralls: To be worn when dealing with bulk or pressurized resin. Also requires for extended periods with airborne resinated fiber.
- Fall Restraint Equipment: Worn when working at unguarded heights above 6 feet or when traveling in or operating high lift equipment.
