Job Objective:

Perform skilled mechanical repairs in an industrial manufacturing environment that includes a diverse assortment of manufacturing, facilities and grounds machinery, equipment, and systems.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform maintenance and repairs on all machinery, equipment and systems in the Plant. This includes adjustment, troubleshooting, installation, monitoring and other duties required to minimize machinery and equipment downtime without compromising workmanship and quality.
• Construct, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain plant and process equipment.
• Examine worn or broken parts to determine cause of failure.
• Disassemble, clean, repair, or replace worn parts. Lubricate and reassemble equipment.
• Develop and maintain PM and PdM programs for plant machinery and equipment with a focus on maintaining mechanical systems.
• Assist with coordinating and perform PM and PdM tasks.
• Complete all necessary paperwork related to job functions including, but not limited to, work orders, inventory, shift notes, time sheets, records, logs and purchasing documents.
• Participate in developing and expanding the spare parts and stock inventory with the assistance and guidance of the inventory specialist.
• Communicate with suppliers and vendor technical representatives as needed.
• Assist and consult with engineering staff for equipment and/or facility modifications and upgrades requiring advanced levels of knowledge and skills.
• Coordinate and monitor work performed by contractors as needed.
• Inspect facility and equipment regularly, notify appropriate personnel of any incidents/occurrences that would trigger implementation of the contingency plan
• May perform additional emergency response duties as required by the department supervisor or manager
• Construct new equipment or modify existing equipment with the aid of sketches, blueprints, or engineering assistance.
• Set up and operate lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, drill press, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Maintain, monitor, and operate plant services, including steam plant, HVAC, and water treatment. Monitor gauges, meters, and recording devices. Adjust valves/regulators.
• Perform basic plumbing. Install water and compressed air piping.
• Perform preventative or predictive maintenance and document actions using either a computer or handheld device for entering data into the EAMS.
• Move Chemicals and or wastes within the facility and maintain chemical storage areas in a clean, orderly manner. Package and label waste for storage and transport as requested.
• Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with all company Safety Procedures and OSHA regulations
• Support the Policy commitments of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. This includes identifying, developing and implementing continuous improvement projects that meet the Policy Commitment Objectives.

Job Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED
• Five years experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance or related environment.
• Good mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical machine maintenance and repair
• Ability to read and understand mechanical, plumbing and/or piping diagrams and drawings.
• Good mechanical craftsmanship – ability to weld, solder, braze, cut, grind, fabricate and machine using horizontal milling machine or similar equipment.
• Proficient technical skills including ability to utilize gauges, meters, calipers, micrometers and other mechanical measurement devices and troubleshooting tools.
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic computer skills or ability and willingness to learn
• Good decision making skills and ability to prioritize tasks
• Experience with computerized PM/Work Order Tracking system(s)
• Experience or familiarity with boiler maintenance and steam components repairs.
• Experience with teardown and rebuild of pumps, gearboxes and other mechanical components.
• Some experience with rigging, equipment move/reposition and heavy lifting
