Position Summary:
This position supports the mission and work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization. Under the direction of the Executive Director and collaboratively with the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the maintenance department’s daily operations while supporting the leadership team as a Leader on Duty. This position will oversee staff supervision, order supplies within budgeted amounts and ensure contracts are managed and utilized closely. The Maintenance Coordinator provides leadership and ensures the well-being for all, in line with YMCA of the USA guidelines and Association policies.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains physical presence, always remains alert while on duty.
  • Knows, follows, and enforces all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, procedures, and staff expectations, including those for the prevention of child abuse.
  • Ambassador of all YMCA programs with a focus on department offerings and member engagement.
  • Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed. Clean and store equipment per branch procedures.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings and trainings.
  • Supports with the development of preventative maintenance programs, purchasing guidelines, housekeeping standards, grounds maintenance standards, and any other facility or grounds-related issues for the Association.
  • Ensures maintenance of plumbing, heating, electrical systems, dehumidification, and chemical systems of assigned facilities, and that repairs are completed in a timely manner. Develops and implements guidelines for facility emergencies, contamination, or other issues that would compromise the health and safety of members and staff.
  • Is willing to step up, even if outside of the position description, to contribute to the overall success of the YMCA.

Experience, Education, and Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pool, HVAC, plumbing systems, carpentry, general repair, and other maintenance-related areas.
  • Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards.
  • Computer competency including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations, during as well as after hours.
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule, including on-call hours.

Trainings & Certifications:

  • Must complete annual safety, combating sexual-harassment, and child abuse prevention trainings assigned by human resources prior to direct service.
  • Must have current CPR and First Aid

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment:
This job operates in a recreational and/or educational environment. This role routinely uses standard recreation and/or office equipment. At times, employees may be exposed to undesirable working conditions, communicable infectious diseases, and risk of injury from others. All employees are required to always follow the preventative health policies of the YMCA. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
