MAINTENANCE HELPER/MECHANIC-

Pay rate starting at $17.00/hr, based on experience

Our Maintenance Mechanics are responsible mechanical repairs to the facility equipment and make complete rounds of the building for sight inspections. We are always looking for positive, dependable, caring individuals to join our team to meet the growing demand in our community for quality care.

MAINTENANCE DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Makes mechanical repairs to the facility equipment: wheelchairs, beds, casters, carts, pumps, fans, HVAC equipment, laundry related equipment, food preparation and cleaning equipment, other machinery that is required to operate this facility.
• Performs repairs and other tasks relating to: piping copper steel and PVC, drain cleaning, assembly and disassembly of sinks, toilets, showers, baths, fire protection, and boilers (hot water systems).
• Performs repairs to the following: furniture, doors (wood and metal), hand and finish wall board, door closures, a variety of windows, studding metal and wood, lock sets, and installs, removes floor and ceiling tiles.
• Ability to operate equipment related to operations of the department (i.e. floor scrubber, buffer, carpet cleaner, etc.)
• Daily (more frequent as needed) - review the Maintenance Request Book/Work Orders. Set up priorities and make correction in cooperation with other maintenance workers
• Make complete rounds of the building for sight inspections; review elevators, lights, exit doors/stairwell doors and major pieces of equipment
• Erects and dismantles scaffolding.
• Paints, plasters and wallpapers as needed.

• Must be a graduate of a vocational or technical school in the building trade, or a high school graduate or high school equivalency certificate, with on-the-job training in the building trade.
• Three (3) or more years of experience within building trades.
• Valid New York State driver’s license
