General Purpose of Job:
Assists with the tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of the Driscoll Main Hospital Mailroom. This will require driving of company provided vehicle and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm. The mail room clerk requires having good communication skills both verbal and written, as he/she will be serving various departments and staff throughout the hospital.

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Retrieves all mail from the U.S. Post Office, on a daily basis.
  • Safeguards all member personal health information (PHI) in the performance of the mailroom duties to ensure that no PHI breach occurs.
  • Delivers and picks up mail from various departments throughout the hospital.
  • Ensures that outgoing mail is properly sealed, posted and transferred to the U.S. Postal Service or other delivery service timely to ensure mailing of member letters follows contractual requirements.
  • Tracks and logs registered mail, return mail, and ensures that incoming packages are received and accounted for daily.
  • Orders mailing supplies as needed.
  • Uses Microsoft excel and other applications to track and maintain billing records for postage sent to accounting for processing.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate accounting data to ensure that postage meter is adequately filled (dollar value) to accommodate all outgoing mail. Prepares documents for accounting to administer checks to fill the postage meter.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Select the one level of education and/or experience needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job. Delete those that do not apply.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three years or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
