Role Overview

Norgren has a proud history of creating innovative engineering solutions in precise motion control and fluid technology, and we collaborate with our customers across more than 50 countries in critical areas such as Factory Automation, Material Handling, Rail, Energy, Process Control, Life Science and Commercial Vehicles.

Set-up, adjust offsets, and operate common machine shop milling equipment such as 3 and 4 axis machining centers and drill presses. Produce production parts to required tolerances, and complete prototype, secondary, rework, and deburring operations.

Work Location: Plymouth, MN

Work Schedule: 4:00pm-2:30am, Monday - Thursday

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow directions and produce required quantity of parts on the job traveler.
  • Must set-up and produce parts within required tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot and correct alarms and non-conforming measurements.
  • Provide troubleshooting and set-up assistance.
  • Pull and return tools per job instructions.
  • Must follow quality assurance instructions, measure and record inspections, and process non-conformances that are discovered.
  • Responsible for keeping work area in neat condition and following 5S.
  • Follow all safety rules regarding machine operations and proper guarding.
  • Perform secondary operations if time is allowed between machine runs.
  • Maintain various reports, such as job travelers, inspections, and checklists.
  • Follow all policies and procedures per the Pneumadyne Policy Manual, Quality Management System, ISO
  • 9001, Quality Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety Program.
  • Assist with machine maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist with training of equipment and work procedures for new employees, and continuous training for all other turning employees.
  • Support Shop with improvement activities and projects.
  • Perform other Shop duties as assigned.

Critical Competencies for Success

  • 5+ years’ experience with setting up and operating 3 and 4 axis CNC machining centers is required.
  • Experience with setting up and operating 2 axis turning centers is a plus.
  • Advanced recognition and understanding of common G+M code style programming, and ability to edit programs.
  • Knowledge and ability to use inspection equipment; such as: calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, thread gages, and video inspection systems.
  • Ability to identify and understand the use of common tooling such as drills, taps, and end-mills.
  • Understand the X, Y, and Z (Cartesian Coordinate System) axis of the 3-axis machining center, and 4th axis of the machining center.
  • Advanced blueprint comprehension.
  • Mathematical knowledge including addition, subtraction, multiplication, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Sufficient reading and writing ability to follow work instructions and prepare simple production reports.
  • Sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions, operate machines, and visually inspect parts produced.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate machines properly.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
  • Physical strength sufficient to lift and carry 40 pounds frequently.
  • Experience setting up or operating Haas or Mazak machines are a plus.
  • Must meet all specifications indicated of Level 2 Milling.
  • Ability to set-up all 3 and 4 axis vertical machining centers in the Milling Department
  • High School Diploma or GED.
