Job Summary

The Risk Manager is responsible for facilitating, mentoring, organizing and implementing the Continuing Performance Improvement / Quality Assurance (CPI/QA) and Risk Management Programs in the Facility. Collaborates with staff as needed to work together toward mutual goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promotes collaboration across departmental functions to make changes in the Center’s delivery system to improve quality and enhance total customer satisfaction.
  • Integrates and coordinates efforts towards promoting quality patient care and a safe environment for patients, employee and visitors.
  • Manages patient complaints/ incidents reports to ensure a focus on a positive patient experience as well as quality improvement.
  • Ensures effective mechanisms are in place to monitor patient care, as well as identify, evaluate and resolve problems that impact the quality of service offered.
  • Assists all departments regarding issues related to CPI/QA/RM and resolves issues in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and analyzes CPI/QA/RM reports from all departments involved that will be submitted on a quarterly basis to the CPI/Quality Assurance Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Collaborates with all departments and health care professionals to resolve issues involving RM.
  • Interfaces the CPI/QA and RM programs in an effort to reduce potential risks to patients, and others within the facility.
  • Coordinates the accreditation procedures for efficiency and effectiveness and ensures compliance with all deadlines.
  • Reviews annually, the CPI /QA/ RM programs for appropriateness, effectiveness and establishes goals for the upcoming year.
  • Collaborates with the CMO to review and approve CPI/QA/ RM plans, policies and procedures.
  • Conducts random chart audits monthly to identify high risk areas and HIPAA violations, reports findings to appropriate Department Manager and CPI/QA committee.
  • Assists in investigations relating to CPI/QA/RM and HIPAA concerns.
  • Develops, coordinates and provides CPI/QA/ RM educational programs.
  • Assists with in-service training related to CPI/QA/RM for employees and volunteers.
  • Maintains records of training and educations.
  • Provides staff in-services during New Employee Orientation and Re-orientations.
  • Provides sufficient data to administration and the Board of Directors to determine quality of care and associated services provided.
  • Evaluates trends aggregated data.
  • Conducts specials studies when appropriate or requested by the Administration or Board Members.
  • Chairs the CPI / QA committee meetings.
  • Complies with all organization policies to include Corporate Compliance.
  • Attends and participates in committee meetings as required.
  • Communicates and demonstrates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.
  • Performs other duties as they are assigned.

Credentials and Experience

Required

  • Nursing degree- LVN or RN

Preferred

  • 5 years Risk Management experience in the health care field.

Experience

  • Risk Management experience.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience with process improvement.

Special Requirements

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination; sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time; working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours; and frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. The Employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work with a moderate noise level in the work environment is also required.
