Job Summary:
The Coordinator assists in the coordination of psychiatric services and serves as a “physician and RN extender” to maximize services to clients and Hutchinson Health programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Patient rooming- Using AIDET, completes vital signs process for psychiatry patients (weight, height, blood pressure, med rec, PHQ-9 as needed and review of lab protocols). Also rooms patients for telepsychiatry.
- Patient medications- Processes refill requests with the EHR. Follows up with pharmacies and insurance companies regarding discrepancies for appropriate medication reconciliation. Enters home medications for new/ nursing home patients.
- Patient Education- Maintains materials, provides education to patients and families on medications and lab procedures (including patient flow for internal labs).
- Physician Correspondence- Assists with RightFax process, correspondence via US mail, InBasket, etc. Tracks patient cancellations and no-shows and creates patient letters.
- Provider Support- Assists providers (psychiatry, psychology and therapy) with administrative support.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education, Training or Degree Required:
1. Graduation from an accredited program
License/Registration/Certification Required: (will be primary source verified by HR)
1. Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
2. Current CPR certification required
Experience and Skills: (indicate preferred or required)
1. Experience with psychiatric patients preferred
2. Knowledge of psychiatric medications preferred
3. Requires a high degree of skill in computer technology
