ABOUT US:

At MMAEC we give students learning options. What better way to learn about water filtration than helping revitalize rivers? Learning may begin in the classroom, but our students move from desks to dirt, planting seeds in soil, and tending to our gardens to see what happens afterward. However, just like snowflakes, we know no two children are alike. We accompany multiple different learning styles by incorporating outdoor classroom learning, with the indoor classroom.

Here at Muskegon Montessori Academy for Environmental Change (MMAEC), the world is our guidebook. Science and nature guide children at MMAEC to experience learning. What makes us great is our belief that children thrive because we allow their learning to expand to endless possibilities becoming an individualized learning path for each student.

That means we make efforts to recycle, be environmentally-conscious, and be energy-efficient in all that we do in our school. We even have a compost bin where we dump our vegetable and fruit-based waste that then turns into the nutrient-dense soil for our garden

Long-Term Substitute Teacher Assistant

*Working 1:1 with a Preschool/Kindergarten Student - approximately 20-29 hours/week until final plan is determined.*

*Covering an opportunity in 1st-3rd grade, working with the lead teacher - approximately 25-29 hrs/week.*

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 60 college credits required; Bachelors degree or Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate preferred.
• Demonstrated competence working with students.
• Computer literate.
• Excellent verbal and written expression.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Works well in a collaborative environment.

JOB GOAL
Support the lead teacher by working with groups or 1:1 with a student for a period of time. Helping maintain the processes and procedures in place for students.
