Overview

This position is to monitor and control all activities related to the loading of rail cars and trucks.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Related experience in an industrial environment preferred.
  • Certifications: Mine Safety & Health Administration training preferred.
  • Knowledge: Railcar knowledge required. Basic maintenance knowledge preferred.
  • Skills: Operate equipment and machinery, troubleshoot, clean-ups, etc.
  • Abilities: Ability to operate mobile equipment and hand tools.
  • Behaviors: Work under minimal supervision at times.
Essential Functions

  • Comply with all company safety and environmental requirements in the performance of the job.
  • Monitor and control the operation of all equipment related to the loading of quicklime and hydrate.
  • Load products in rail cars and trucks, in conformance with bills of lading.
  • Perform light and preventive maintenance to equipment.
  • Clean-up spillages and perform other housekeeping duties.
  • Remove product blockages in equipment.
  • Perform physical inventories of all bulk materials.
  • Operate the rail car puller as needed.
  • Switch rail cars as necessary.
  • Perform daily inspection of work area and record findings on Shift Checklist.
  • Correct unsafe conditions and remove spillages found or contact the Shift Supervisor to arrange for problems to be corrected in a timely manner.
  • Perform daily pre-shift safety inspections on all mobile equipment.
  • Ensure that all weigh scales are kept clean, including the area around the load cells, under the scales.
  • Reclaim hydrate to bulk loadout tanks.
  • Reclaim and blend lime to proper tanks.
  • Inspect all rail cars prior to loading, and remove any build-up found. (If there is too much to clean out, the car should be Bad Ordered).
  • Ensure that all trucks are inspected and loaded with the correct product.
  • Keep a log of all cars and trucks loaded.
  • Blend product to trucks or cars as necessary.
  • Maintain proper weights in cars and trucks.
  • Be a certified weigh master.
  • Secure all hatches on cars.
  • Issue all seals as necessary.
  • Report any maintenance necessary on all equipment.
  • Spot rail cars for switching and loading.
  • Collect samples from rail cars and trucks for quality control purposes.
  • Work effectively as a team member in the areas of safety, environmental control, quality control and communications to help meet the goals of the plant.
  • Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.
